Promotional card showing Tom H. Taylor's production of The Female Swindler by Walter Melville which was first produced at the Terriss Theatre in Rotherhithe, London on 12th October 1903. The detective hero is being hauled out of the river. The eponymous villainess, Lu Valroy, turns out not to be as wicked as most of the Melville brothers wicked women. She and the detective chasing her are mutually attracted and end up together. Date: 1903

Touring to West Ham Palace, 28th October 1912. This Melville melodrama is set in the 16th century. A coup de theatre was achieved when soldiers, disguised as monks, suddenly unfrock and point their weapons at the villains. Date: 1912
