Canberra: the swimming-pool

Colour illustration depicting the swimming pool of P&O's super-liner Canberra'. Designed by architects Casson and Rendle, the pool was of white mosaic and set within tiers of sunbathing terraces. The teak flooring continued into the Abolido Club. The internal design of Canberra, who would make voyages to Australia, marked a new era of ocean travel. It was the biggest ship to be built by Harland & Wolff shipyard since White Star's Britannic in 1914

A Library Study of Salvador Dali

Salvador Dali (1904-1989) is seated at a desk for a library study of the surrealist artist as an author. At the time he was working on his book The Secret Life of Salvador Dali'. When asked about the presence of the statue, he said, Just to make people ask questions. Date: 02/04/1941
