Cabral and Coutinho fly from Portugal to Brazil

Gabo Coutinho and Sacadura Cabral - Portuguese aviators who flew from Lisbon, Portugal to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1922 in a Fairey IIIB Float plane- the first time this feat was achieved. A link is made to the Portuguese explorer Pedro Alvares Cabral who discovered Brazil in 1500. Date: 1922

Rossio Square, Lisbon, Portugal - Central Station

Rossio Square, Lisbon, Portugal - Central Station (Estacao Central) now the Rossio Railway Station. Designed by Portuguese architect Jose Lu�Monteiro a Neo-Manueline facade dominates the northwest side of the square and is a Romantic recreation of the exuberant Manueline style, typical of early 16th century Portugal. Clearly visible on this card are the two intertwined horseshoe portals at the entrance, the clock in a small turret and the abundant lavish sculptural decoration. Date: circa 1905
