Bathing machine owner and swimming master, Essex
Pictured in front of his bathing machines on the beach at Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex, is Charlie Bates with some of his family and the horse which hauled the machines down to the water's edge and back. Holding the horse's head is Charles Polley, wearing a jumper with the title Swimming Master.

Kenneth Kendall with teddy bears
Kenneth Kendall (1924-2012), British broadcaster. He worked for many years as a newsreader for the BBC and other channels, and also hosted the game show Treasure Hunt for Channel 4 (1982-1989). Seen here with three teddy bears, part of a large collection. At the time of this photograph he was living in West Cornwall. He later lived in Cowes on the Isle of Wight. Date: circa 1970s

Miss Olive Plunket and Lord Milton by Madame Yevonde
Miss Olive Dorothea Plunket and Lord Milton (William Henry Lawrence Peter Wentworth-Fitzwilliam, 1910-1948, eldest son of the 7th Earl Fitzwilliam) by Madame Yevonde. Their engagement had recently been announced, and they married in 1933. Lord Milton became the 8th Earl Fitzwilliam in 1943. Date: 1932
