A Madame Yevonde portrait of Lady Elizabeth Paget

Lady Elizabeth Paget, daughter of the Marquess of Anglesey, was one of the train-bearers to Queen Elizabeth at the coronation of George VI. Madame Yevonde was a prolific and ground-breaking society portrait and commercial photographer active between 1915 and 1975. She is particularly well-known for her astonishingly modern work using the Vivex colour process during the 1930's. Her images of society folk and other personalities appeared regularly in The Sketch or The Tatler through the 1920's and 30's. Date: 19th May 1937, p310

An Afternoon At Home at a Modern Flying Club by Johns

Representative types of British light aeroplanes flying over a typical modern aerodrome. The green monoplane on the left is a Westland Widgeon, which is flying immediately above an Avro Avian from the Lancs Aero Club. Slightly above to the right is a Blackburn Bluebird from the Yorks Aero Club, which is flying beneath a Desoutter Sports Coupe, painted in orange and black, the colours of the National Flying Services. To the left is another Desoutter. The green and white biplane seen at the top of the picture on the right is a Coupe Moth whilst below it fly a yellow Gipsy Moth from the London Aeroplane Club and a blue and white Comber Swift'. Date: 9th July 1930
