Mail coach on the High Street at Stony Stratford
A packed vintage four-horse mail coach on the High Street at Stony Stratford, Buckinghamshire. Due to the juxtaposition of two hotels in the centre of town, The Cock and The Bull (pictured), (both originally coaching inns on the main London to Chester and North Wales turnpike), it is claimed locally that the common phrase "a cock and bull story" originated here.

Two performers acting out 'The Confession' at Le Ciel - Montmartre, Paris Cabaret Nightclub. The Cabaret du Ciel (Cabaret of Heaven) was an early version of modern theme restaurants, with a theme centered around celestial concepts connected to the afterlife in Paradise. Inside the restaurant, beer was served, and the customers were greeted by acts such as angels playing music, St. Peter sprinkling holy water from the heavens, as well as reenactments of scenes related to Dante's Inferno. Offered and Taken by H M Bateman
Offered and Taken by H M Bateman, is an illustration of a boxing match. There is only one boxer left in the ring, a fresh and fit looking man who has just knocked his opponent flying far out of the ring and into the distance. The flying adversary is a puny looking chap with a very suprised expression on his face. The referee looks on agog, not sure how to continue. The crowd follow the flight of the combatant as he sails through the air. Date: 1922
