Scene during the evacuation of Dunkirk, on the northern French coast, with German dive-bombers attacking shipping and setting a paddle steamer on fire. In the foreground is the beach, crowded with men waiting to embark. The drawing was made by an artist present during the embarkation on 30 May.

The picture was featured as the Prince was about to embark on another empire-binding tour around Africa. Edward was a popular figure; he sympathised with the conditions of the working class and carried out a number of tours as royal ambassador during his time as Prince of Wales. Date: 28th March 1925
