Tay Bridge disaster, view of the diving operations

View of the diving operation at the scene of the Tay Bridge disaster. The engineer Thomas Bouch advocated the need for a bridge crossing the Tay for a number of years before building began in 1873. The bridge was said to be unstable, especially during bad weather conditions. On the 28th December 1879, during a treacherous weather conditions the Tay Bridge collapse killing over 75 passengers and staff. Bad workmanship and incorrect materials were blamed for the disaster and Bouch's reputation was disgraced.

Fashionable bathing suits of the 1920s

The woman on the right sports an American wasp-stripe bathing suit, while the woman on the left's bathing suit is of Canadian checked plain wool - both from Lily-white's of Picadilly. The woman at the bottom, meanwhile, wears a tailored tweed suit designed by Kenneth Durward.
