The Ghost Story by Alfred Bestall
A family sit in the dark by a blazing fire, rigid with fear while listening to a ghost story told by an aged relative. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to them, the sceptre of a medieval knight, looms over them with interest. Illustration by Alfred Bestall, who is best-known for drawing Rupert Bear but who contributed a number of illustrations to The Tatler during the 1930s. Date: 1930

Steve Bloomer, English footballer and manager
Steve Bloomer (1874-1938), English footballer and manager. He played for Derby County, Middlesbrough and England during the 1890s and 1900s, and was famous for his prolific scoring of goals. He remains a legend at Derby County, the Club anthem is entitled Steve Bloomer's Watching, and a portrait bust of him was unveiled at the Pride Park ground in 2009. Date: early 20th century

Suffragette W.S.P.U Sash Votes for Women
Women's Social & Political Union sash, in the colours of purple, white and green. White background with border edging of purple and green, dark green lettering. The sash is made in a heavy woven cotton material, has a hook fastening, and measures 55cm long (each side) and 10cm wide. A trifle faded. The sash was first seen at the Women's Sunday Demonstration, 21st June 1908. Date: circa 1908
