HMS 'Jervis Bay' attacking the 'Admiral Scheer', Second Worl
Illustration showing the Royal Navy armed merchant cruiser 'Jervis Bay' (centre) steaming towards the German pocket-battleship 'Admiral Scheer', North Atlantic, November 1940. The 'Jervis Bay' was the only escort ship for Convoy HX84 when the German battleship appeared and waged a desperately unequal battle to try to buy time for the convoy to flee.

Buying A House by H M Bateman
Buying A House by H M Bateman is an illustration on the dangers of buying a house. The couple dance in the big rooms and run up and down the stairs and buy impulsively. The sub-title "They WOULD have it!" tells the true story. After moving in the roof leaks, the gas smells, the chimney is blocked and the boiler explodes. Much money and work is needed to mend, as is shown in the last scene.
