Hyacinthus Orientalis (Hyacinth)

Hyacinthus Orientalis, also known as common hyacinth, garden hyacinth and Dutch hyacinth, drawn by Basilius Besler (1561-1629), one of many plates in a book entitled Hortus Eystattensis sive diligens et accurata omnium plantarum, florum, stirpium ex variies orbis terrae partibus. The book contained illustrations of the flowers in the garden of Prince Bishop Johann Konrad von Gemmingen, in Eichstatt, Germany. Date: 1613

Thomas Edison re-creates his electric lamp

The wizard of Menlo Park in New Jersey, reconstructed the lamp in the same laboratory in which he made his original experiments. The meeting of theses three men, Hoover, Ford and Edison, constitutes a saga of American endeavour and opportunity.
