The Reichenbach Falls - a waterfall cascade of seven steps on the creek called Rychenbach in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle made the Reichenbach Fall the location of the final altercation between Sherlock Holmes and his greatest foe, the criminal Professor Moriarty in "The Final Problem". The gentleman on the bridge looks suspiciously like Conan Doyle....! Date: circa 1909

Switzerland - Gasterin Thal, the Schilthorn

Coloured lantern slide of a view of the Schilthorn. The Schilthorn is a 2, 970 metre high summit of the Bernese Alps, overlooking the valley of Lauterbrunnen in the Swiss canton of Bern. It is the highest mountain in the range lying north of the Sefinenfurgge. The Schilthorn lies above the village of Murren, from where a cable car leads to its summit. It has a panoramic view which spans from the Titlis, Jungfrau, M�, Eiger, over the Bernese Alps and the Jura mountains up to the Vosges Mountains and the Black Forest. Mont Blanc is also just visible.. Slide number 40 of Box 181 entitled Swiss No.1'. Date: circa 1890s
