Portrait of Barbara Woolworth Hutton (1912-1979), socialite, heiress and philanthropist, dubbed the "poor little rich girl", pictured with her husband Prince Alexis Mdivani, the first of her seven husbands dining at the Hotel de Paris at Bray. The Bystander describes her dress as of parrot green with a little cap of feathers to match. Date: 1934

The central characters are, presumably, Alexis and Aline (in bridal gown), with Sir Marmaduke far left and Lady Sangazure far right, while Constance Partlet is in the background with her mother between Marmaduke and Alexis, and the vicar, Dr Daly, is right of Aline. The event was to celebrate Princess Alexis's twenty second birthday and was also a farewell to their friends before the Prince's departure for India to play polo.
