Oak Apple Day at Chelsea Hospital

Lord Roberts takes the salute of the Chelsea Pensioners as they march past the statue of Charles II, which is covered with oak branches in honour of Oak Apple Day. Oak Apple Day or Royal Oak Day was celebrated in England on 29 May to commemorate the restoration of the English monarchy in May 1660.
