The first Royal Variety Show performance, then known as the Command Performance, at the Palace Theatre in 1912.The royal box, specially constructed to give the most complete view of the stage as possible, contained King George V, Queen Mary, Grand Duchess George of Russia, Princess Victoria, Princess Christian, Princess Henry of Battenburg, Prince Arthur of Connaught, the Duke of Teck and Prince Alexander of Teck. Never before did a Palace audience laugh so much said the acting manager, with the royal party especially enjoying the humourous scenes. Date: 1912
