Framed Print of First Royal Command Performance at Palace Theatre
A page of sketches by artist Norman Morrow, recording the acts on the bill at the first Royal Command Performance of in the Art of Variety (later known as the Royal Variety Performance) at the Palace Theatre, London on 1 July 1912 in the presence of King George V, Queen Mary and assorted other members of the royal family. Among the acts pictured are Miss Clarice Mayne, male impersonator, Vesta Tilley, Pipifax or Panlo, Happy Fanny Fields, George Robey, Harry Tate, Alfred Lester, Little Tich, Harry Lauder, the Palace Girls and the ballet dancers, Novikoff and Anna Pavlova. Morrow, who produced these illustrations, attended the performance with the Bystander theatre critic, Jingle, who both had to stand for the entire three hour performance. Date: 1912. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
