Experiment with jets to clear away snow in Wales, 1947
Jet engines or gas turbines, acting like blow lamps, eat their way through the snow as a truck advances down the railway line in the hills of South Wales. This was the last in a series of tests which proved the effectiveness of jets in clearing snow drifts to allow trains carrying coal from Wales to reach other parts of the country, during one of the coldest winters known in Britain.
