Evelyn Waugh gets married
Photograph of English novelist and satirist, Evelyn Waugh (1903 -1966) on his marriage to Laura Herbert, which took place at the Church of the Assumption Warwick Street, London. Waugh had a brief and unhappy marriage to Evelyn Gardner which lasted just two years (they divorced in 1930) and then converted to Catholicism. Her married Laura, a Catholic, in 1937. The couple remained together until Waughs death and had seven children. Catholicism would become a key theme in Waughs novels
