Enemy aeroplanes attack British steamer by G. H. Davis
Enemy aeroplanes attacking a British steamer. Bombs and bullets from above -- the Avocet attacked by three German planes during the First World War. The steamship was on its way from Rotterdam to Manchester. All the bombs dropped missed their target, and the ships crew fired rifles at their attackers. The planes eventually turned away. Date: 30 October 1915
