Edward Colin Ryder Richardson, aged eleven, included in the New Years Honours List among Service and Civilian heroes as commendation for bravery. He was a passenger on the SS City of Benares, one of 90 child evacuees from Britain to Canada with the Childrens Overseas Reception Board, when the ship was hit by a torpedo from German submarine U-48 resulting in heavy loss of life.
