Duchess of Fife (Princess Royal) in Delhi boat accident
Page from The Tatler magazine entitled, Our Wrecked Royals reporting on the unpleasant episode experienced by Princess Louise, the Princess Royal (Duchess of Fife), her husband the Duke of Fife and two daugthers, Princess Alexandra and Princess Maud. En route to Egypt for a holiday on board the Delhi, the ship ran aground off the North West coat of Morocco and the royal family had to be rescued during particularly stormy weather. All survived but the Duke contracted pleurisy, the cause of which was ascribed to the accident and died a month later on 12th January 1912. Date: 1911
