Dr Lehwess Round the world by car - 1902 - a commemorative card from Moorlake, Germany. A journey attempted by Dr Lehwess in his car Passe Partout. Setting out from London, Dr Lehwess intended to travel via Paris, St. Petersburg, Siberia, across to Japan, on, via the Sandwich Islands, to San Francisco, Mexico, New Orleans, Chicago and finally to New York - a journey intended to take eight months. Lehwess travelled in a motor caravan (painted yellow) built by Panhard et Levassor, but only got as far as Gorki before the cylinders cracked and it was abandoned in a snowdrift
