Death of Conan
Conan, a burgess (political official) of the city of Rouen, is thrown from the top of a high tower by Henry, brother of William II (Rufus) of England. While Rouen was occupied by Robert, the elder son of William I, Conan had been conspiring to hand control of the city to a lieutenant of WIlliam Rufus. Despite previous quarrels, Henry came to the aid of his elder brother, drove back the lieutenant and imprisoned and disposed of Conan. Date: circa 1089
