Cricketer Archibald Maclaren as a recruiting officer
English cricketer who captained the England cricket team at various times between 1898 and 1909. A right-handed batsman, he played 35 Test matches for England, captain in 22 of those games and leading the team to defeat in four Ashes series against Australia. Pictured in his Manchester recruiting office during the war when he was attached to the Army Service Corps. He also gave recruiting speeches in theatres and music halls. Date: 1915
