Framed Print of Colonel Arthur Martin-Leake, VC
Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Martin-Leake, VC and Bar, VD, FRCS (4 April 1874 22 June 1953), English double recipient of the Victoria Cross. He was first awarded the VC in 1902 during the Second Boer War. While serving as a surgeon-captain in the South African Constabulary, he treated wounded soldiers under fire during an action at Vlakfontein. He was shot three times and refused water until his comrades had been offered some. He won his second V.C. at the age of 40 in November 1914 while serving with Royal Army Medical Corps near Zonnebeke, Belgium. He rescued a number of wounded soldiers stranded close to German trenches despite coming under constant fire. What a guy! Date: 1920. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
