A scene at Cuffley, Hertfordshire showing the wreckage of the L-21 German zeppelin airship brought down by Lieut. William Leefe Robinson on the night of 2 September 1916. The scene was witnessed first-hand by The Sphere special artist, Fortunino Matania who lived close by, and shows firemen and men of the Royal Flying Corps sorting through the wreckage and wire. Matania describes the, mass of grey wire in inextricable entanglement...all that was left of the flaming titan of a few hours before. Date: 1916
