Christmas Feasting in reign of Henry VIII
A Christmas banquet in the 16th century during the reign of King Henry VIII. The servers carry huge napkins over their shoulders and are marshalled in by the deputy steward. The carving squire kneels to do homage to the host, opposite whom, on the table is a silver ship model. On the table in the right foreground is the salt - an elegant vessel of gold. Date: 24 November 1930
