The Monastery of St Benedicts is located South East of Rome. It enshrines the cave (Sacro Speco) in which St. Benedict lived as a hermit before he founded his first monastic community. It was also the site of the first books printed in Italy, Donatus pro parvulis, Lactantius (1465) and De Civitate Dei (1467). Date: 1918
