Cartoon, Rev Stewart Headlam, The Church and Stage Guild. The Guild was formed in May 1879 with a view to breaking down prejudice against the theatre and its performers. Within a year it had nearly 500 members from the clergy and the theatrical world. Stewart Headlam (1847-1924) was its founder.
