Captain Leslie Cheape
Captain Leslie St. Clair Cheape (1882-1916), British soldier and polo player dubbed, Englands greatest polo player. He played for England in the Westchester Cup three times in 1911, 1913 and 1914. In the final match, he famously played a pivotal role in helping England to victory against America. He was killed on 23 April 1916 while commanding a squadron of the Worcestershire Yeomanry in Egypt. Pictured when he was with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in India in 1906. Date: 1906
