Canadian nurses on the Western Front during the First World War, looking among the ruins of their quarters after a bomb strike by German airships at No. 1 Canadian General Hospital, Etaples, northern France. One nurse, Sister Gladys Wake, received fatal wounds during this strike, and died two days later. A total of 66 people (patients and staff) were killed as a result of the raid. Date: 19 May 1918
