Caliph Stork, an eastern tale
Caliph Stork, an eastern tale -- the Caliph asks Selim the Learned to decipher a document for him which he has bought from the peddler. Selim says it is in Latin and says that if he speaks the magic word Mutabor he can change into an animal and understand animal languages. He can change himself back to human shape again by saying the same word. But he must be careful not to laugh while in animal shape, because then he will forget the magic word and have to remain an animal. (2 of 5) Date: circa 1890s
