British " Mother" or " Big Willie" tank being tested at Burton Park, Lincoln, during the First World War. The design process began on 24 August 1915, and a wooden mockup shown at Wembley on 29 September. The building process began on 28 October. The tank was ready to move under its own power on 6 January. Date: January 1916
