Brigadier General Douglas Macarthur (1880-1964), American army officer of the 84th Brigade, 42nd Division, sitting in an ornate chair at St Benoit Chateau, northern France, towards the end of the First World War. He had done some restoration work on the chateau after German soldiers had occupied it. He served in both World Wars, as well as the Korean War. Date: 19 September 1918
