Boulogne-sur-Mer, France, Beach, Britannia and Port entrance. The statue was erected to commemorate the arrival in 1914 of the British troops, by a committee of veterans of Boulogne and through a national subscription. It was handed over to the town of Boulogne-sur-Mer and inaugurated by Messrs. The Marshals Lord Cavan and Petain, on 19th July 1938 in the presence of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.
