The Battle of Hondschoote happened during the French Revolutionary Wars over two days in September, 1793. The battle ended with a French victory and resulted in the deaths of 7000 soldiers. The Spinneweyn Windmill, which served as a look out post and first-aid base, is pictured in the battle. Date: 1918
