Allos - Hotel Pascal - France
Allos - Hotel Pascal - France - The owner, Madame Leonidas, told us about the nice American radio officers who came through in the War and stayed because she was the only one in the town who could speak English. This became a rendez-vous for American troops moving up from the Mediterranean toward the German front. We shudder at the thought of motorized convoys moving up these roads at night. She told of how, in appreciation of her stopping one such convoy from going up to where a bridge had been bombed, two American officers later returned with a truck load of food, cigarettes, gasoline, etc. Date: 1951
