Admiral Sir George Callaghan, pictured while Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Navy Home Fleet. When war broke out at the end of July 1914, he was relieved of this command by Sir John Jellicoe, and moved to a more defensive station. Before the war was over he had been promoted to the Navys highest rank, Admiral of the Fleet. Date: 1914
