Men of the 82nd U.S. Airborne Division gather round the warmth and light of a fire at night-time in the heavy forest of the Ardennes, Belgium. They had been part of the 116 men who held a crossroads west of Regne for 76 hours during the Battle of the Bulge. The 82nd, commanded by Colonel James Gavin, were veterans of D-Day, Sicily, Italy and Arnhem. Date: December 1944
