150th Anniversary of the Bow Street Runners
PC Carol Price chats to PC Dave Edwards with his horse, and PC Stephen Cass. Carol Price was the last policewoman ever to wear this uniform on the streets of London. The uniform is the last remaining original in the METs possession and was first worn in 1919 when policewomen were first seen in the capital. The Policemen are dressed in the uniforms of the Bow Street Horse Patrol of 1805. The mounted officers were known as Robin Redbreasts because of their red waistcoats, and were the first policemen to wear a uniform. Date: 1979
