WW1 - Patriotic Fancy Dress
WW1 era - British Home front - A remarkable set of 3 postcards featuring three women, two of whom are dressed in patriotic fancy dress. In this card the lady on the left is festooned in wartime recruitment posters and has a fabulous fake Lord Kitchener moustache (and eyebrows). The lady on the right has gone for a painted-on beard (?), Union flag (tall) hat, rosette, floral fabric adornments and (very weirdly) a shoe insole hanging around her neck, Sadly the exact symbolism of this gesture is lost to time... Date: circa 1916
