Thessaloniki - Greece - The Heptapyrgion Fortress
The Heptapyrgion (modern Eptapyrgio), also known by its Ottoman Turkish name Yedi Kule - a Byzantine and Ottoman-era fortress situated on the north-eastern corner of the acropolis of Thessaloniki in Greece. In both languages the translation is " Fortress of Seven Towers", however it actually features ten, and was probably named after the Yedikule Fortress in Istanbul, Turkey. Date: 1927
