The blackboard reads France ought to have Alsace-Lorraine Carl referring to the German suspicions that in March 1917 a secret message was sent from Emperor Karl I of Austria via Prince Sixte de Bourbon to French President Poincar頰 romising support for the French claims to Alsace-Lorraine. This message was published by the French government in April 1918.
