Scouts during Wartime
Their Scout Son Died Doing Air Raid Good Deed: Awarded Scouts V.C. Thirty Scouts - all air raid heroes - attended a presentation ceremony at Bermondsey, London, when Silver Crosses for gallantry during air raids were awarded. One of the bravest of them all was not there - his good turn in helping others had cost him his life. He was Scout Frank Davis, aged 17 years, of the 11th Bermondsey Troop, who died in performing the deed which won for him the Bronze Cross - the Scouts V.C. Davis was killed during an air raid shortly after rescuing a wounded fellow messenger. Mr and Mrs Davis receiving their brave sons award at the presentation ceremony
