Douglas A2D-1 Skyshark 125482. The third production aircraft of ten completed, 125482 was bailed to the Allison Engine Company for flight testing of turboprop engines at Edwards Air Force Base in California, later moving to Indianapolis. This aircraft had a brief flash of fame when it broke a speed record from Indianapolis to Opa Locka, Florida, in a time of 2 hours 38 minutes. Allison continued to fly their three Skysharks for several years, supporting their other products. Of the 2 proto Types and 10 production aircraft completed 4 never flew and were scrapped with no hours on the clock. Date: circa 1957
