The Blue Mosque in Istanbul, also known by its official name, the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, is an Ottoman-era historical imperial mosque located in Istanbul, Turkey - constructed between 1609 and 1616 during the rule of Ahmed I. In the foreground is the Walled Obelisk or Masonry Obelisk (Orme Dikilitas), a Roman monument in the former Hippodrome of Constantinople, now Sultanahmet Square. It is situated at the southern end of the ancient chariot-racing track of Constantinople's central barrier, beside the Obelisk of Theodosius and the Serpentine Column. Date: circa 1910s
