A portrait of Miss Violet Gordon Charlesworth, in scottish dress(b.1884). She became notorious for faking her own death in 1909 by allegedly being thrown from her motor car into the sea from the cliffs at Penmaenbach near Llandudno, but was later discovered alive and well, and sentenced to hard labour.
