Cicely and Winifred Mordaunt, WW1
Miss Cicely and Miss Winifred Mordaunt, youngest daughters of Sir Charles Mordaunt, 10th Baronet and his wife Mary Louise Cholmondeley of Walton Hall, Warwick. Both worked at the front during the First World War - Winifred confirmed as having been a member of the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (FANYs). Cicely received the Order of Elisabeth for excellent work during an epidemic of typhoid and Winifred won the Croix de Guerre for gallant conduct during an air raid. In French Army orders it was stated that Miss Winifred Mordaunt " showed an absolute disregard of danger." Date: 1918
